Constitution of Chinese Students and Scholars Association at CUNY Graduate Center (GC-CSSA)
ARTICLE I – NAME
The name of this association is Chinese Students and Scholars Association at the Graduate Center, City University of New York, or CSSA-GC.
ARTICLE II – MISSION
The main purposes of the GC-CSSA are as follows:
- To be an information and communication center for the Chinese students.
- To bring the Chinese students of different principles, in different colleges together, to encourage communication between Chinese students and the students from other countries and areas.
- To strengthen the relationship with the International Students Office, to help the new-comers settle down and accustom the new life.
- To help Chinese students solve problems both in life and in their graduate study.
ARTICLE III – MEMBERSHIP
Membership shall consist of students, alumni, and faculty within GC, CUNY who indicate their wishes to assume the privileges and responsibilities in the CSSA-GC.
ARTICLE IV – OFFICERS
The officers of this association shall consist of the President, first Vice President, second Vice President, and Treasurer.
The term of all officers shall be two years.
ARTICLE V – MEETING
Regular meetings should be held at least once every semester.
Special meetings should be called:
- At any time by the President upon forty-eight-hour notice to the members.
- 5 members in 2 different departments.
- No election should be held at a special meeting.
ARTICLE VI – ELECTION
Election shall be held at the end of November of each other year, the exact date to be set by the President. Notice of an election shall be given two weeks prior to the holding of the election, and shall be and be accurately posted in the “Campus Notice” at least 24 hours prior to the election.
Election procedure and order for election officers: Voting shall be made by email, name, and department should be specified in the email. The person receiving the most votes should become the President. The President should then select other five positions. Any disputes should be decided by the voting members in a regular meeting.
Impeachment to the current President is approved if more than 10 members in 3 different departments propose and over half members agree to the issue. After the impeachment to the current President is approved, the President should be reelected by the above election procedure.
