Constitution for the Feminist Studies Group
From cunydsc.org
Mission: The Feminist Studies Group (FSG) is a discussion group at the CUNY Graduate Center for students and faculty from all departments interested in feminist issues. Our primary purpose is to foster an intellectual and social community of scholars that encourages interaction across disciplines between students and faculty.
Listserv: The FSG maintains and moderates an optional listserv. Postings to the listserv should be limited to those relevant to the group or feminist issues.
Events: In addition to the online community created by the listserv, the group holds approximately one monthly meeting for social and organization purposes. In addition, the FSG can sponsor or co-sponsor speakers and conferences.
Funding: Our events are always free of charge, and our only regular means of support are DSC funds. It is the responsibility of the co-chairs to seek any additional funding.
Membership: Membership is open to all Graduate Center students and CUNY faculty.
Governance: Only students matriculated at the Graduate Center will hold voting membership, although non-voting membership is open to non-matriculated Graduate Center students.
At the end of every academic year, elections for the two co-chairs are held by voluntary nomination followed by a general optionally-anonymous vote.
The co-chairs share the responsibilities of scheduling and running meetings, organizing events, selecting papers, and applying for and allocating funding.
