The Doctoral Students Council currently has 32 chartered organizations. These organizations are interdisciplinary groups which are run by graduate students. Chartered Organizations are eligible to receive up to $250 per semester from the DSC.
How To Charter An Organization
If you would like to charter an organization there are three steps:
- First - Submit an official roster to the Co-Chair for Student Affairs. The roster must include signatures from at least 20 students. Students must represent at least 3 different departments with no more than 10 from the same department. The official roster can be downloaded here.
- Second - Email a one page constitution (in DOC, RTF or PDF format) to the Co-Chair for Student Affairs. The constitution should detail your group's mission, proposed events, membership and how co-chairs will be selected/elected. A sample constitution can be found here.
- Third - Once both the roster and the constitution have submitted to the Co-Chair for Student Affairs then a copy of the constitution will be distributed at the upcoming plenary. The following plenary will vote on the constitution, if that vote gets a 2/3rd majority then your group is chartered and can begin claiming up to $250 a semester. Office space is available only after 3 semesters of being active.

Maintaining A Chartered Status
Once chartered by the DSC, organizations must re-submit an official roster every semester in order to maintain and "active" status with the DSC (and thus eligible for funds, office space, web space, etc...). Rosters and an updated constitutions must be submitted to the Co-Chair for Student Affairs by May 30th at the latest.
