The DSC sponsors two separate grants: DSC Cultural Affairs Grant and DSC Professional Development Grant.

Additionally, the DSC co-sponsors the Student Travel and Research funds with the Graduate Center Administration.

Cultural Affairs Grant
The Doctoral Students' Council Cultural Affairs Grant is a DSC initiative intended to support cultural events organized by Graduate Center students. The event must be open - though not restricted to - all Graduate Center students. The grants may fund a wide range of projects, including student-organized conferences, lectures, or publications.
Funding for cultural projects is available to individual students, departmental groups, Chartered Organizations, and ad hoc groups at all campuses where doctoral students are located. In order to apply for a DSC Cultural Affairs Grant, applicants must submit a proposal and estimated budget. The proposals should be submitted electronically to the Co-Chair for Business Management. The Cultural Affairs Committee of the DSC evaluates the proposals and selects recipients. Click here for more info.

Professional Development Grant
The Doctoral Students' Council Professional Development Grant is a DSC initiative intended to support professional development and research activities organized by Graduate Center students. It is open to all Graduate Center students. The grants may fund a wide range of projects, including student-organized conferences, publications, and workshops on aspects of professional development.
Funding for professional development projects is available to individual students, departmental groups, Chartered Organizations, and ad hoc groups at all campuses where doctoral students are located. In order to apply for a DSC Professional Development Grant, applicants must submit a proposal and estimated budget. The proposals should be submitted electronically to the Co-Chair for Business Management. The Professional Development Committee of the DSC evaluates the proposals and selects recipients. Travel & Research Funds
Student travel and research funds are provided by the DSC and the administration, which make available limited stipends for:
- registration and/or travel expenses for presentations at professional conferences
- research-related travel costs and travel costs for attending professional conferences
- costs for research materials and dissertation-related expenses such as typing and duplicating (personal computers and printers are not included).
Applications for the Student Travel and Research Fund are available in the Office of Student Affairs (Room 7301), the DSC Main Office (Room 5495), or the Provost's Office.
