Meeting Called to Order at 6:17 pm.
I. Dave Golland Moved that the agenda be approved. Chong Wojtkowski seconded. Motion Passed Unanimously
II. Stephanie Domenici explained the DSC, what we do, the duties of representatives, and some of our committees. She also discussed opportunities to serve on GC committees.
III. Explanation of Elected DSC Positions
A. Stephanie Domenici explained the position of Co-Chair for Student Affairs. B. Dave Golland explained the position of Co-Chair for Communications. C. Tina Lee explained the position of Co-Chair for Business Management. D. Marie Thomas explained the job of the University Student Senate Delegate. E. Current Steering Committee Members discuss the position of At-Large Steering
Committee Member. F. Dave Golland explained the Media Board. G. Stephanie Domenici explained the position of Research Foundation Board Representative. H. Ian Jones and Binh Pok explained the Graduate Center Tech Fee Committee. I. Tina Lee explained the DSC Cultural Affairs Committee. J. Tina Lee explained the DSC Professional Development Committee.
IV. Election of 2006-7 Officers
A. Chong Wojtkowski (French) was elected Co-Chair for Student Affairs B. Dave Golland (History) was elected Co-Chair for Communications C. Brenda Vollman (Criminal Justice) was elected Co-Chair for Business Management D. Zeeshan Suhail (Political Science) was elected University Student Senate Delegate and
Dion Powell (non-matric) was elected Alternate E. Ericka Calton (Biomedical Engineering), Kate Wilson (Theatre), Michael Broder
(Classics), Charles Lieberman (Criminal Justice), Aaron Ibur (Political Science), and Rouzbeh Nazari (Civil Engineering) were elected At-Large Steering Committee Members.
F. Dave Aliano (History) and James Lyles (Biology) were elected to serve on the Media Board.
G. Stephanie Domenici was elected Research Foundation Board Representative
H. Lee Hachadoorian, Ian Jones, Gregory Donovan, and Hasan Adekoya were elected to serve on the Graduate Center Tech Fee Committee.
I. Volunteers were solicited for the DSC Cultural Affairs Committee. J. Volunteers were solicited for the DSC Professional Development Committee
V. New Business A. Tina Lee presented the 2006-07 DSC Budget which was passed in April. She highlighted
the increased contribution to the Travel and Research Fund for next year and stated that the percentage at which medical tests are subsidized should be revisited in light of the extremely cheap rates negotiated by Mary Clancy at the Wellness Center. She also pointed out that there is surplus funds in both the Reserve and the Capital Expenditures Funds.
B. TinaLeeannouncedajobopportunityfromBrianSchwartzintheOfficeofSponsored Research. She also discussed the ongoing Associate Vice President for Information Technology Search and asked for contact info from students who would be willing to attend any campus visits the candidates make in the next few weeks. Student input on this hire is crucial so we must attend.
