In attendance: Eero Laine (EL), Amy Martin (AM), Valia Mitsou (VM), Sarah Jordan (SJ),
Absent: Naomi Perly (NP)

SJ calls the meeting to order at 7:34pm.

I. Approval of Agenda
AM motions to approve the agenda. VM seconds. The motion passes unanimously.

II. Approval of Minutes of October 24, 2011.
Nicole should be changed to Naomi
VM motions to approve the Minutes of October 25, 20011 AM seconds. The motion passes unanimously.

III. Updates and Discussion
a. Student housing survey
SJ asks for feedback regarding the Student Housing Survey. Discussion ensues.

b. Student housing tenants’ association
SJ reports that she has been reaching out to students who live in the GC apartments. She will follow-up with some of the residents to discuss the possibility of helping them establish a Student housing tenants’ association.

c. Student services survey
SJ opens the floor for discussion on the Student Services Survey Draft. VM suggests that many of the questions are already on a survey that is being circulated by the Outreach Committee. Discussion ensues. The survey will not be used. EL suggests discussing other ways in which we might collect suggestions from students. VM suggests a suggestion box outside the DSC main office. AM will follow-up with Open CUNY on a website that might collect student ideas for DSC services.

d. Dance classes
SJ has been in contact with Emily Clark regarding teaching various types of dance classes (Ballet, jazz, ballroom, tango, salsa, etc.). Discussion ensues. VM will follow-up on studio space near the Graduate Center. EL will provide information regarding instructor rates. SJ inquires about the possibility of self-defense classes. SJ will take a straw poll at plenary regarding interest in dance classes and self-defense classes.

IV. New Business
VM mentions that the Health Issues Committee is discussing the idea of improving the DSC lounges and/or finding additional common areas. SJ will reach out to the Health Issues Committee to discuss these ideas.

V. Announcements
SJ welcomes VM and AM
VM announces that there will be Greek Dance classes from 12-1pm in 5414.

VI. Adjournment
AM motions to adjourn. VM seconds. The motion passes unanimously.

The meeting adjourns at 8:23pm.
