Colin Ashley is a doctoral candidate in the Sociology Program and is a member of the Africana Studies and Women’s Studies Certificate Programs. He is also a Co-Chair for QUNY the Graduate Center’s LGBTQ student organization and also receiving an Interdisciplinary Concentration in LGBT/Queer Studies. He has taught Queer Politics and Gender 101 on various CUNY campuses. His research interests include race, sexuality, queer theory, affect, aesthetics, and public space. His dissertation examines the relationship between spatial production (its affects, aesthetics, and neoliberal conflicts) and conceptualizations of communal identity for queer youth of color.
